Yummy Ya Kun Kaya Toast for Takeout

Now that I've begun to fly PAL to Cebu rather than Cebu Pac, I've found my new brekkie go-to at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 (PAL), which I absolutely love because I've always wanted to try ever since my friend Manila Boy raved about it.
Ya Kun Kaya Toast
Originating in 1944 in Singapore as the establishment for Coffee & Kaya, Ya Kun Kaya now has several stores in Manila. Might be too simple for the Filipino mindset when it comes to the "breakfast meal," but it is certainly one of the best. I ordered breakfast #1 and boarded my plane.

True Spanish Tapas at Ipar's, Cebu

Imagine eating all those plates of food, and finishing them too! When the plates are so small, you don't feel as guilty munching on a lot of things. That's the beauty of Tapas!
When in Cebu, visit Ipar's Restaurante Y Bar de Tapas for some of the most authentic & tasty Spanish cuisine in the Philippines. I'm not kidding, it's pretty spot on from the ambiance to the cuisine.

EuroCruise 2010: Sweet Sunset in Santorini Part 2

After walking around the towns of Oia and Fira, tasting some sulfur-enriched Santorini wines from Santo Winery, and dining with an awesome view at Sphinx Restaurant, it was time to say goodbye to Arthur, our very animated tourguide who spends half the year in Santorini, and the other half in Australia.
My family loved him so much, we wanted to come back just so we could bunk in his pink palace of a house! Apparently he landed on some Greek wealth from his father, so he enjoys life showing people around Santorini and also being a videographer on the side. That's where the good pics come from.
With some time on our hands til our boat, the Celebrity Equinox, set sail for Mykonos at 10pm, Bro & I decided to take on Santorini JDOM style. JDOM, short for Junior DOM (ya get it), is my brother's friends take on living the opulent life. To the fullest, all day, everyday. They say I'm JMAT, but let's not go there!

EuroCruise 2010: Wine Tasting at Santo Winery, Santorini

After our walking trip to the town of Oia, our tour guide Arthur took us to Santo Winery for some Greek Wine tasting.
Located at the village of Pyrgos in Santorini, SantoWines sits at the edge of the Caldera. Hence, the awesome view!
I'm all for liquor consumption, and tasting the unique flavors of Santorini wine is more exciting because of the sulfur content in the soil due to the volcanic presence and the eruptions, giving their grape juice extra oomph.

Pad Thai & People Watching at People's Palace

Last week I was craving for some really strong Thai flavors after a recent not-so-satisfying Thai meal at MyThai. Since there are only a handful of Thai restos in Manila that I'm aware of, I headed to the one that always pops up in my head. Which also happens to be one of the hottest spots to be in and be seen, which I'm all for even if it means traveling to Greece just to eat by ZE sunset.
People Palace at Greenbelt 3
Home of the Floor to Ceiling windows perfect for people watching.

Sphinx in Santorini: Resto with a View that Tastes Like Heaven

Let me take you out of Manila and into the gates of heaven, visually.

Upon stepping inside the salmon colored doors in the middle of the town of Fira, you enter the restaurant with the best view of Santorini, Greece and the Aegean Sea.
Welcome to Sphinx Restaurant. Welcome to Santorini

Eat Well Delicious Kitchen

The name of the restaurant says it all.
If you want to "Eat Well" in a "Delicious Kitchen", run to Eat Well!
For me, it's like the ultimate Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant experience minus the costly airfare ticket to get authenticity. Headed by Law Kwok Keung of Shangri La Hotel Restaurant fame, it's surely not going to disappoint.

SaturDate Cooking Spaghetti Bolognese

I'm turning cooking into the coolest weekend gimmick.
In an attempt to limit eating out, ToT decided to make SaturDate a Cooking In Date.
Since Mr. S is undoubtedly a Bolognese snob, I had to consult three different cookbooks to get familiar with cooking the Ragu sauce. One of them is the official Cookbook of Ristorante Za Za in Florence, given to me by a friend who had also studied in Florence.
I was too confused on which recipe to follow, so I decided to wing it and make my own ToT version of the classic Italian dish. Let me share with you how to make a delicious meal of Fettucine Bolognese, Mozzarella Bruschetta and Garlic & Rosemary Roasted Baby Potatoes, as well as how easy it is to make when you have someone else helping you.

EuroCruise 2010: Day 2 At Sea, On Board

Sorry. I've been pushing down my Summer trip posts in lieu of more local food finds which seem to get readers all riled up. I must continue within the year or else I wouldn't be giving my Summerstravaganza justice.
So anyway, my previous post was about the Celebrity Equinox, the ship which we took to tour the Eastern Mediterranean. But no Cruise talk would be complete if we didn't talk about the infamous, notorious, and just plain over-the-top BUFFET.
