Mommy & Me Munching Around Copenhagen

Whenever the family travels, we normally take separate flights to just to stay on the safe side, in the event of a catastrophe. Interestingly enough, I usually arrive a day or two before everyone else, and stay longer for a couple of days. You would think that with three older brothers one of them would take the role of the sacrificial lamb, but clearly the family figured out that you can throw ToT anywhere and I would survive... plus some travel memories.
This time, I had the chance to spend some R&R with my mom, otherwise known as ESF. We see each other on a daily basis because we work together, plus I'm still a boarder at their abode. We're not the 'how's your day' type of mother/daughter because of proximity and pressures at work, so it's always a privilege whenever I get to spend some Mommy & Me time, preferably away from Manila and at a place with a ton of shopping.
We stayed at the Copenhagen Plaza Hotel, which is right across the Central Train Station and a stone's throw from all the major sights in the city.

EuroCruise 2010: Carpets &The Grand Bazaar in Istanbul

Gooood Morning Istanbul!
After a long day of trekking Istanbul's delectable sights and spices, I woke up to a breakfast of fresh cherries from Turkey. Super sweet, and readily accessible at our ship's Buffet line.
Day 2 in Istanbul isn't as long as the entire day... but it did involve a lot of walking... and shopping. Clearly, ToT is NOT a morning person.

EuroCruise 2010: Istanbul's Spice Bazaar is Spicyyy

Next stop in the Istanbul tour is every Filipino's wet dream: Shopping! For spices, that is.
Located at Cami Meydani Sok, it's close to the exterior walls of the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia Museum. It's one of the must-visit places in Istanbul. Why?
It's the hub for exotic spices and other ethnic culinary delights.

Fawning Over Firenze For a Day

You gotta love the streets of Firenze...
I love it so much, after over 24 hours of being on planes and in transit to get to Europe, the first thing we did after unloading our bags at our hotel was to purchase a Trenitalia ticket from Roma to Firenze that very same day.
Here is ToT's bro getting all excited just thinking of going back to his motherland for a very memorable summer.

HK Holiday, Part Due

After the first family day in HK town, and a night of debauchery, vodka and Tsui Wah, my bro and I woke up at the unreasonable hour of 2pm! Sheesh!
But come on, who wouldn't want to wake up to a view as beautiful as this one??
One of the perks of staying at the Parklane in Causeway Bay is the convenience to major shopping meccas and the MTR. This was a Sunday, so the park was filled with (it's completely true) Indo and Filipino house hold help on their day off. I love the camaraderie especially when they share their baon or packed meal. It's so sweet and completely Filipino.

After we washed down the leftover alcohol and took our respective baths, we headed off to meal #1:

Hong Kong Honeymoon

Let me tell you, Hong Kong can make you do crazy things. The food begs you to eat a lot. The sales lure you to shop a lot. The streets ensure you will walk a lot... speaking of walking... HK also made me sleep walk. More on that later.
My trip started with my shuttle ride to Park Lane hotel with a tornado hanging over our heads. RAIN!

As a birthday gift to myself, (aside from my Muse ii and my Tubbataha trip) I met up with my Santa Monica roommate in HK while her fam flew in from Jakarta. Well, that and the underwater cam case purchase that made me trek to the HK ghetto aka talahib (grassfields).

My very first meal while waiting for roomie's arrival was from a random sushi place atop the AMC movie theater in Causeway Bay. I was unsure what I was hungry for so I headed to the nearest resto from the hotel... Talk about a gem of a find; in that resto-that-will-remain-nameless I taste the most amazing shake (salmon) sushi which melts in your mouth with perfect oiliness.
