Hello, I'm ToT and I'm a Lace Cookie-holic

Damn it. I've been cookiefied.
So last week I Tumbler'd that I had spent PhP15k (almost $350) on these cookies. The responses were borderline vulgar, but it was a big order, and I had to share it to the world!
During Hotel Elizabeth Cebu's opening, someone gifted my parents with this tub of cookies from Les Chocolateries, called Dentelle Au Chocolat
Called locally in Cebu as "Lace Cookies", these delicate treats are 2 paper-thin layers of (oatmeal?) cookies, which look like lace and sandwich a middle filling of chocolate. When tried frozen, it is as crispy as Tate's Cookies, but immediately melts into a warm chocolatey sensation that leaves with you wondering how such a dainty cookie could be made. They also use real Belgian chocolate, which lends its silkiness to the cookie. No faux-choco here.
It comes in several varieties, white chocolate, semi-sweet and dark chocolate. The small tub of 300g is about P439, while a large one of 600g is P640.
But my ultimate indulgence is the MINT version. When I saw the green sticker, I knew this was what I needed.
Upon opening the lid, an aroma of peppermint wafts at your nose, and reminds your senses of Andes mint chocolates, or Frango if you've tried them. After one bite, it's confirmed: It's Andes in a thin cookie! Even better as a palate cleanser or as accompaniment to a lovely cup of black coffee. It will melt in your mouth!
It's so light that you wouldn't feel guilty eating 4 at a time, but I've already finished an ENTIRE tub of the Mint cookies and counting! My stash is kept in the freezer to seal its freshness, the rest... well I had to give 'em away or else I'd need a blood sugar test now.

Now I know what to bring home from Cebu! They are also great as gifts and is sealed for freshness, a bow will make every cookie lover's Christmas dreams come true :)

  1. OMG!!!! I super super super LOVE these cookies! I also hoarded those Dark Mint Chocolates when I visited Cebu last. Discovered these lace cookies late 2008 and since then I'd buy tons whenever I visit. Bought them at Don Merto's in Capitol. :D

  2. these are A+ cookies, though i'm not a fan of the mint (not the cookies fault, but personal preference) so I ended up trading my mint cookies for ToTs dark chocolate ones...

now these dark choco ones are amazing, could be one of the best cookies i've eaten.

now if you guys can convince ToT to fork over some and give it as a goodie giveaway! :)

damn, I wish I had some left now, or hid them from my family who ate two tubs worth in less than a day
