Danish Smorrebrod at Aamann's Deli

After Copenhagenization, another Copenhagen claim to fame is the impeccably fresh and thoughtful Nordic cuisine. The focus of its dishes is an emphasis of the best local produce, detailed preparation, and a generous use of herbs.
For those who want a little taste-test of Nordic food, it is imperative to have a Smorrebrod lunch.

My friend Macy recommended I try Aamann's for their delicious food, but since the Establishment was closed (we were very late for lunch), we ended up at the Take Away location right beside the restaurant. When I told my Danish friend Thomas about it, he said : GOOD CHOICE. So I must have the right set of friends.

College Days, Cupcakes & Chicken Wrap at Malibu Kitchen

Aside from attending my Bestfriend's wedding, I had other important points on my Cali Agenda... one of them being to revisit my old haunts, aka Santa Monica and Malibu, the two cities I lived and studied in during my formative college years.
Everyday for a good year or four, I would drive up and down the Santa Monica incline to Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) to get to the beach, erm, I mean to class.
Who else would be perfect to take this trip down memory lane than my lovable college roommate!

HK Stopover: Yum Cha at Luk Yu

I had a few hours to kill during my layover in Hong Kong Airport to LAX. After running an errand for my mom, I decided to do the the next best thing in HK aside from shop.
Traditional Yum Cha at one of Hong Kong's Top 10 Best Restaurants!
To "Yum Cha" is to go to a teahouse for some dim sum.

EuroCruise 2010: Munching on Octopus at Antonini's, Mykonos

Next stop on the EuroCruise lineup is the tourist-favorite Greek island of Mykonos, infamous for its bright Mediterranean sun, endless beach parties, and enigmatic blue & white buildings.
A tiny 33 square miles, Mykonos is one of the smallest islands in the Cyclades group and is inhabited by only 5000 locals, yet gets flocked by over 900,000 visitors a year. Bars, nightclubs, and beaches...  Think Santorini, but not on a mountain. Ahh... ToT Heaven!
As I was walking towards Chora, or center of Mykonos, I spotted a man by the shallow water, literally, spanking a live octopus on the rocks, paralyzing the tentacles and readying it for consumption. Bro and I looked at each other; we knew what we were having for lunch!

Maiden Voyage at Madison

I love lunches, more than dinners. Usually lunches become working lunches, only taking a break to grab a bite when the baon arrives from home. But when time permits, I try to go out and enjoy the sun...So when I had a few hours in between meetings, I hollered at a friend and headed to Greenbelt 5 for lunch.
We picked Madison Grill, because Mesa was filled up. I love their logo. Also, it's another Culinary venture of Chef Sau Del Rosario, of Chelsea Market and Mr. Jones fame, so I was sold immediately. I am also slightly obsessed with him, hence my culinary following of all his restos.
The al fresco area was very inviting, but the heat of the afternoon sun was not very appealing. And we looked cute, so no bueno if we start sweating. I was definitely channeling Sunday Soho brunches in the Big Apple.
